Dating a woman 4 years older

I don't need him to take care of me because I have a great career and I help take care of him financially. If it's true, I don't think I can deal with him in a long-term relationship because there's nothing his mother can tell me. Yes, I love her son and I would love to see where this relationship goes.Hopefully, it can become something more permanent in the future.
We're still feeling each other out, and who knows if it will work out anyways.
It's not that I'm going to rush anything or expect kids now, but it is something I need to consider when dating I feel like and whether the guy I'm dating would eventually want the same things.
Right now I've only been dating the 26 year old for about 3 weeks, so it's still really new.
For one, she doesn't have to worry that I'm trying to trap her son with a pregnancy or because he is a Marine.
She doesn't have to worry that I'm trying to get him to marry me so I can get a brown ID card. So here's my question: Do you think my boyfriend told his mother about me because he has to have "Mommy's permission and Mommy's approval" for every decision he makes?
