Running will serve you your entire life in many ways, one of which is meeting women, beautiful fit women who wear tight running shorts and who, at the end of the race, are exhilarated to be alive and will want to talk to anyone, even you. You will get in shape, see the world in a way you never dreamed, and you WILL meet women. In this country (the US) kayaking has really become a woman’s sport. Every imperfection is going to be poked, prodded and put under the spotlight. Stand up straight, look people in the eye, smile a lot and always have something friendly to say to anyone - especially the girl/woman behind the counter. Just by being able to say hi to a strange woman behind the bar at Starbucks you’re building your confidence. I once picked up a woman behind me in the line at Starbucks; another time I picked up a flight attendant in Paris who was standing in line with me and dated her for three months. If you need to talk about something, ask them about themselves.
It’s a recipe for pain and rejection, especially for shy men. Make her day, tell her you like her eyes or her hair or whatever. Always be asking questions about them, learning about them.
